Varutharacha Chicken Curry - Fried & crushed Chicken curry

A traditional malabar recipe..This goes well with "pathiri"..

  1. 1/2 Kilogram Chicken
  2. 1/2 Cup Coconut Grated
  3. 2 Onions
  4. 5 Green Chilli
  5. 6 Garlic
  6. Ginger
  7. 1/4 Cup Onion Small
  8. 1 tomato
  9. 2 curry leaves
  10. Pinch Cumin Sweet (Perum Jeerakam)
  11. 2 Tablespoons Coriander powder
  12. 1 Teaspoon Red Chilli Powder
  13. 1/2 Teaspoon turmeric powder
  14. Salt
  15. 1 Teaspoon Garam masala

  1. Add Photo

    Add 1/4cup small onions, sweet cumin, and curry leaves to the grated coconut, and fry this in a pan till golden brown.Now, grind this to a paste

    Crush green chillis, ginger and garlic to a paste

  3. Add Photo

    Mix onion, paste obtained in step 2, tomato, coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, garam masala, and salt with chicken and a cup of water.Cook this well for some 15-20 mins.

    Once the chicken is well cooked, add the coconut paste and cook for another 2-3 minutes

  5. Add Photo

    Heat oil in a pan, and add the remaining small onions to it. Add this mixture to the chicken curry, and stir well.

    Decorate with coriander leaves
