Vella Payasam (Jaggery Kheer)

All it takes is some jaggery and a cup of lentils. This payasam can cheer some people up!

Ingredients

  1. 1 Cup Moong Dal
  2. 1.5 Cups Jaggery (Powdered)
  3. 2 Cups Milk
  4. 1 Cinnamon Stick
  5. 2 Teaspoons Cardamom powder
  6. 4 Cashew
  7. 4 Raisins
  8. 1 Teaspoon Ghee

Method

30 mins
  1. Add Photo

    Boil/Pressure cook moong dal. Keep the cooked dal aside.

  2. Add Photo

    Boil the milk and add the jaggery to it. Mix it till the jaggery completely blends with the milk.

  3. Add Photo

    In a pan, roast cashew, raisins and cinnamon stick in ghee.

  4. Add Photo

    Pour the jaggery & milk mix onto the roasted spices.

  5. Add Photo

    Add the cooked dal and add some water if you like.

  6. Add Photo

    Add the cardamom powder as well and let the mixture boil.

  7. Add Photo

    Vella Payasam is ready.
