Apple Upside Down Cake

Apples in season? Try this apple upside down cake with a french yoghurt cake base. You can replace the apples with pears, peaches, pineapples, just about anything :)

  1. 110 Grams Flour
  2. 110 Grams Sugar
  3. 3 Eggs
  4. 100 Millilitres Oil
  5. 100 Grams Yoghurt
  6. 1.5 Teaspoons Baking Powder
  7. 1 pinch salt
  8. 1.5 Teaspoons Vanilla Extract
  9. 3 apples
  10. 1/2 Teaspoon Cinnamon Powder
  11. 40 Grams Butter
  12. 50 Grams Brown Sugar

  1. Add Photo

    Line the base of a 9inch pan with butter paper.

  2. Add Photo

    Mix brown sugar and butter and caramelize till you get a llittle color.

    Peel, core and cut into thin slice the apples. Arrange them in the pan. Sprinkle cinnamon powder over it and then pour the caramelized sugar. Keep aside.

    For the base: Whisk together the flour, baking powder and salt. Keep aside.

    Beat together the eggs, sugar, yoghurt and vanilla extract.

    Slowly add the dry ingredients. Then fold in the oil. Do not over mix.

    Pour this batter over the apple slices evenly.

    Bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees for about 35-40 mins or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.

    Serve with vanilla ice cream :)
