Char Siu-style Pulled Pork

Pulled pork that tastes like char siu (also called honey barbecue pork).



  1. 3 Pounds pork roast (shoulder or loin)
  2. 1/3 Cup Hoisin sauce
  3. 2 Tablespoons oyster sauce
  4. 1 Tablespoon soy sauce dark
  5. 2 Tablespoons honey
  6. 3 Tablespoons five spice Chinese
  7. 1/2 Tablespoon cayenne pepper
  8. 1 Cup water

    Place pork roast in slow cooker

  2. Add Photo

    Mix Hoisin sauce, oyster sauce, dark soy sauce, honey, Chinese five spice, and cayenne pepper in a bowl. Add mixture to the slow cooker.

    Mix in water. Make sure the roast is not entirely submerged.

    Cook for 10 hours, turning roast a few times so the outside crisps slightly on all sides.

    Pull roast apart with two forks until it looks shredded.

    Taste. Add more spices if needed.
