Caterpillar Bread

I wanted to make something with pista which was lying idle in my kitchen shelf for months.I happened to watch an episode of Vineet Bhatia making caterpillar bread stuffed with sausages.Just experimented with a different stuffing and yeah it was success.

Ingredients

  1. 1 Cup Pista Crushed
  2. 1/2 Cup Coconut Grated
  3. 2 Tablespoons Sugar
  4. 1 Tablespoon Butter
  5. 1/4 Teaspoon Cadmon Powder
  6. 31/2 Cups Flour
  7. 1 Cup Water Lukewarm
  8. 11/2 Teaspoons Yeast
  9. 2 Tablespoons Milkpowder
  10. 1 Tablespoon Sugar
  11. 1 Tablespoon Butter (melted)
  12. 1 Teaspoon Salt

    Mix yeast, water, and 1 teaspoon of sugar. Stir till there are no lumps of yeast. Set aside for half an hour till it turns frothy.

    In a bowl mix 2 cups of flour and other dough ingredients. Pour the yeast mixture into this and stir well.

    Put this into a flour dusted work surface and knead for about 10 mins adding the remaining flour.

    Touch a bit of oil with your fingertips and apply all over the ball of dough. Cover in a bowl and set aside for an hour for it to double in size.

    For filling heat pan and add butter,once melted add grated coconut,saute for a minute and add other ingredients.Add a drop of pista mix milk shake(for colour).

    Knock the air off from dough and divide into 6 equal portions.Roll into a oval shape.With a sharp knife, make about 10 cuts on one side.

    On the other side put the filling uniformly in width along the entire length of the dough.Fold to cover the filling and roll gently all the way to the beginning of cuts.Now fold the strips over it neatly.

    Allow the buns to rest for about 30 minutes to allow them to expand again slightly,Egg wash and springle sesme seeds.

    Put in the oven at 400 degrees Fahrenheit (200 degrees Celsius) for 20-25 minutes.
