Oats Rava Idly

A spicy South Indian Rava Idly recipe is modified by adding Oats.

Ingredients

  1. 1 Cup Oats Quick
  2. 1 Cup Rava sooji /
  3. 1/2 Cup curd
  4. 1/2 Teaspoon Cooking Soda
  5. To Taste salt
  6. 1/2 Cup Carrot Grated
  7. 1/2 Cup onion chopped
  8. 1/4 Teaspoon Mustard
  9. 1/2 Teaspoon cumin
  10. 1 Teaspoon Channa Dal
  11. 1 Teaspoon Urad Dal
  12. 1 Teaspoon green Chilli Ginger chopped &
  13. 2 Tablespoons Curry leaves Coriander chopped &
  14. 1 Pinch Asafoetida Powder
  15. 4 Tablespoons oil

Method

    Add Photo

    Roast the oats for 2-3 minutes in a dry pan. Allow it to cool and powder it in a mixer. Dry roast the rava till it turns golden brown and keep it aside.

    Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a pan, add mustard and after it splutters; add cumin, channa dal, urad dal and saute for a few seconds. Add onions, green chilli, ginger, curry leaves, coriander, Asafoetida Powder and saute for 2 minutes, turn off the stove.

    Mix powdered oats, roasted rava, curd, salt, cooking soda, some water and prepare a thick batter. Add sauteed ingredients, grated carrot and mix it.

    Grease the idly plates, spoon the batter into the greased plates. Steam it for 10-12 minutes in medium heat. Serve with Chutney and Sambar.
