Masala Upma / Spicy Semolina (Wheat)

Bored with usual Upma!! I tried Masala Upma by tasting it once in a housewarming party. Another dish for masala lovers!:)



  1. 1 Cup Wheat Semolina Rava /
  2. 1 Onion (chopped)
  3. 1/2 Cup Carrot Beans and (Potato & Peas - Optional)
  4. 1 Tomato Chopped (small in size)
  5. 3 Coriander Leaves (Chopped) Stalk
  6. 2 Tablespoons Ghee Oil /
  7. To Taste Salt
  8. 1 1/4 Cups Water
  9. & 1 Clove Cinnamon Cardamom , (each)
  10. 6 Cashew
  11. 2 Green Chilli
  12. 1/4 Teaspoon Fennel Seed
  13. 10 Mint Leaves
  14. 1 Ginger Slice
  15. 2 Garlic

    Add Photo

    Grind the items, which are listed in the ingredients. Heat a kadai with the oil, add onion, some coriander leaves and saute for a few minutes. Add tomato. After the tomato turns mushy, add the ground paste, veggies and cook for 3-5 minutes.

    Now add water, salt and Rava. Cook till Rava absorbs all the water. Sprinkle the coriander leaves and serve hot with Onion Raita.
