Spinach cooked with pulses in mild tempering.
Wash thoroughly and chop the spinach finely. Boil it with green moong dal in a pressure cooker till 3 whistles or until done.
In a pan, heat oil and add cumin seeds, add the onions when they crackle. Sauté them till transparent. Then add garlic and cook for another minute.
Add the tomatoes, ginger and green chillis. Add the salt, red chilli powder and turmeric powder. Let cook till the tomatoes are soft.
Mix this with the boiled dal and spinach in the pressure cooker and mix well. Add water if required. Let boil (open cooker) on medium flame for about 10 minutes.
Add garam masala and cover the cooker for 5 minutes. Open and serve with rice/chappati.
