Corned Beef & Cabbage

This dish was prepared for the subreddit, /r/52weeksofcooking, where the theme was kosher. I was worried about this being a little bit over seasoned since I used the spice packet but it was delicious but I want to try to season it myself. The corned beef absolutely melted in my mouth. Next time, I think I will brine the meat myself and use more potatoes.

  1. 3 packet Corned Beef , with spice lb
  2. Pepper Freshly Ground (about 20 cranks)
  3. 1 1/2 teaspoons Kosher Salt
  4. 1 teaspoon Allspice Ground
  5. 2 Bay Leaves
  6. 1/2 lb Carrots , chopped  (3 - 4)
  7. 1 White Onion , diced
  8. 1 Yellow Onion , diced
  9. 1 lb Potatoes Red , peeled and chopped (3 - 4)
  10. 1/4 lb Celery , chopped (2 - 3 stalks)
  11. 1 11.2 oz Bottle Guinness
  12. 1 Cabbage Small Head , chopped

Method

    Add Photo

    Add corned beef, pepper, salt, allspice, bay leaves, carrots, onions, potatoes, celery, guinness, and water to cover everything (about 3 cups) to a slock cooker.

    Cook on low for 8 hours.

    Take the meat out of the mixture and chop.

    Add the meat back to the mixture.

    Cook an additional 1 hour on low.
