Meen Peera-Meen Pattichathu-Kerala Style Fish with Coconut

  1. 1 Kilo Fish (I used King )
  2. 1 1/2 Cups Coconutgratedcoco
  3. 1 Pinch Jeera
  4. 6 - 7 GreenchilliesGreen
  5. 2 Tomato
  6. 2 Tablespoons Lemon Juice
  7. 2 Ginger "
  8. 8 Shallots
  9. To Taste Salt
  10. Bunch Curry leaves
  11. 2 Tablespoons Coconut oil

  1. Add Photo

    Grind the coconut, shallots, ginger, turmeric, and chillies together into a coarse paste with some added water.

  2. Add Photo

    Add the cleaned fish, ground coconut paste, Tomato, Lemon Juice and salt to a wide pan and mix gently until combined. (You can substitute Tomato /Lemon Juice with Kudam puli - to retain the color I prefer tomato/Lemon juice) ** Mango is another great substitute -- and taste much better ****

  3. Add Photo

    Bring this mixture together with a spatula and press down firmly, keep flame on low and cook covered until the fish is cooked and soft - depending on the type of fish used, this will take anywhere between 15-20 mins.

  4. Add Photo

    When done, add the coconut oil and curry leaves, mix gently, and keep covered until ready to serve
