Jalapeño cheese poppers

  1. 2 cups mozzarella cheese shredded
  2. ¼ cup jalapeños , chopped
  3. ½ cup flour
  4. 1 egg , slightly beaten
  5. 1 - 2 Tablespoons milk
  6. 1 cup corn flakes crushed
  7. ½ teaspoon basil dried
  8. ½ teaspoon pepper crushed
  9. 1 teaspoons salt
  10. optional ranch marinara sauce or for dipping

    Preheat oven to 200 deg C. Line a baking sheet with foil and spray heavily with cooking spray.

    Mix the shredded mozzarella cheese with the chopped jalapeños. (If possible add a little bit of the vinegar from the jalapeño bottle, that adds a little flavour) Make little balls and then shape them into little oval cutlet bites. Freeze the poppers until hard (about 30 minutes).

    Place flour in one bowl and egg whisked with milk in a second bowl. In a third bowl, add crushed cornflakes, dried basil, pepper and salt.

    Toss the cheese poppers in the flour to coat, then in the egg mixture, then in the crumb mixture.

    Freeze the poppers for about 15 minutes. (This will keep the cheese from melting too fast while the coating gets crispy in the oven).

    Place cheese on the baking sheet. Spray again with some cooking spray. Bake 4-6 minutes. They need to be watched closely so they don’t melt completely!
