Multi-cereal upma

Deviating from traditional way of using only one cereal in Upma, I mixed three cereals to create this new dish.

  1. 1 Brown Bread Slice
  2. 1 Cup Carrots Sliced
  3. 1 Cup Onionchopped
  4. 1 Cup rava Roast
  5. 1 Tablespoon Soya Granules
  6. To Taste Salt
  7. 1 Green chillies
  8. 1 Pinch Turmeric
  9. 1 Pinch Mustard seeds
  10. 2 Teaspoons Cooking oil
  11. 1 Pinch Cumin

  1. Add Photo

    Bring the oil to heat in a kadhai. Add the mustard seeds and Cumin.

  2. Add Photo

    When the mustard seeds start popping, add the chopped onions and stir until it turns golden brown. Add the chopped chilly.

    Add the sliced carrots and add 2 cups of water.

  4. Add Photo

    Sprinkle salt and cook for a minute.

  5. Add Photo

    Add the Soya granules at this stage as they need some time to cook.

    Cook until the carrots and soya are soft and the salt should be slightly more to compensate for the rava that follows.

    Add chunks of brown bread and stir until the bread dissolves.

  8. Add Photo

    Start adding the rava while constantly stirring to avoid lumps from being formed. Make a thick paste.

  9. Add Photo

    Keep stirring until the excess water evaporates. Taste in between to adjust salt in between.
