Flavoured Curd Rice

This is a very simple variation to the plain curd rice recipe which utilizes various condiments popular in South Indian cooking.

Ingredients

1-serving
  1. 1 Cup White Rice
  2. 0.5 Litre Curd
  3. 2 Green chillies
  4. 1 Onions
  5. Turmeric
  6. Salt
  7. Pepper Ground
  8. Cumin seeds
  9. Asafoetida
  10. Mustard Seeds
  11. 2 Tablespoons Coconut Oil

Method

30 mins
  1. Add Photo

    Wash and cook the rice in pressure cooker. Keep it aside

  2. Add Photo

    Chop onions,green chillies.

  3. Add Photo

    Pour coconut oil into a frying pan. Keep the quantity to bare minimum. Add mustard seeds.

  4. Add Photo

    Stir until the seeds start popping. Add the chopped onion and stir fry in sim for a minute.

  5. Add Photo

    Add the chillies and continue stirring for half a minute

  6. Add Photo

    Add the turmeric and salt to taste. Sprinkle some pepper for additional taste.

    Stir until the onions turn golden brown.

  8. Add Photo

    Mix the contents of the pan with that of the cooker. Stir well until all the contents mix well.

    Let the rice mixture cool down

  10. Add Photo

    Mix the curd in enough proportion to make the rice soft and mushy but without turning watery.

  11. Add Photo

    Stir well. Sprinkle asafoetida powder over it and mix again. Tada!!
