Fish Curry (coconut based gravy)

Naadan fish curry recipe with shallots and ground coconut.Tastes amazing.Tastes even more amazing on the second day :)

Ingredients

  1. 500 Grams Fish ( sea fish)
  2. 8 - 10 Shallots
  3. 1 ginger small cut into juliennes
  4. 8 - 10 cloves garlic
  5. 3 - 4 green chillies split length wise
  6. 1 Sprig curry leaves
  7. 3 - 4 kokum water (kudampuli) soaked in
  8. 1 Cup Coconut grated
  9. 1 Pinch turmeric powder
  10. 2 Teaspoons coriander powder
  11. 1.5 Teaspoons chilly powder
  12. To Taste salt
  13. 1 Tablespoon coconut oil

Method

    Wash and clean the fish and keep aside.

    In a pan, heat shallots, grated coconut,chillies,garlic and the spices till they are soft and grind them in mixer

    Place this mixture in another bowl and check for salt.Add salt to taste

    Now in an earthern pot or kadhai,heat this mixture till boiling point.

    Simmer the stove, add the fish,some water, salt and kokum and let it sit for 10-15 minutes on simmer.

    Once the fish cooks, add a spoon of coconut oil and curry leaves sprig.
