Upma is a South Indian breakfast dish made from rava (semolina). It is easy to prepare and you can make it real quick. A perfect dish for the bachelor or mom with no time.
Slice onion and chilli in small pieces
Put rava in kadai and heat. Keep stirring. Stop when reasonably hot and light smell comes. Slight colour change to dark brown may happen when not stirred properly or if overheated
Reduce the flame and move the heated rava to a paper
Immediately put oil in the kadai and heat
Put the onion, heat. Put in chilli. Fry until onion becomes golden brown
Optionally, put in a pinch of turmeric powder for the colour
Add salt and water. Wait till water starts boiling
As you pour the rava from the paper slowly, keep stirring.
Keep stirring until it reaches the right consistency. The water should’ve dried somewhat.
