This dish was prepared for the subreddit, /r/52weeksofcooking, where the theme was Canadian. For as long as this took to cook, I think I was expecting a little bit more. It was really good but I think I will make some changes next time.
Although not authentic, Sriracha goes REALLY well with this.

Ingredients

  1. 1 lb Ground Beef
  2. 1/2 lb Pork Ground
  3. 1 Potato
  4. 1 Onion
  5. 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  6. 1/2 teaspoon Black Pepper Ground
  7. 1/2 teaspoon Allspice , heaping
  8. 1/4 teaspoon Cloves Ground
  9. 1/2 Cup Water
  10. 1 recipe pastry or store bought
  11. 1 Egg , beaten
  12. to taste Paprika

    Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

    Bake the potato 30 - 45 minutes, until done. Peel and mash the potato in a large bowl.

    Add the beef, pork, onion, salt, black pepper, allspice, and cloves. Mix well

    Add potato, meat mixture with water in a large frying pan and simmer uncovered until very thick, about 1 hour.

    Meanwhile, make or prepare your pastry.

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

    Line a pie plate with pastry, add potato, meat filling evenly. Cover with top crust.

    Brush top crust with egg and top with paprika.

    Bake for 50 minutes in preheated oven.
