Basboosa - Rava Cake

If you are craving for something sweet or looking for a classy dish to impress someone and not in a mood to do too much measuring and mixing, this is the dish to go to.. I cant take credit for this dish the recipe belongs to my mom.. She learned it from her Arab friends during her stay in KSA.. My husbad as Big sweet tooth so he really loves this..

  1. 1 cup Yoghurt -
  2. 1 cup Sugar -
  3. 2 1/2 cups Rava -
  4. 1/2 cup Ghee -
  5. 1/2 tsp Baking soda -
  6. 10 pcs Almonds -
  7. Sugar syrup
  8. 3 cups Sugar -
  9. 2 1/2 cups Water -
  10. drops Lemon - few
  11. drops Rose Essence - few

  1. Add Photo

    Mix yoghurt and sugar well. Add Rava & Ghee to it. In the end add baking soda.

  2. Add Photo

    Greece a baking pan and pour the mixture. Score through the mixture like you are cutting it. For a little decoration top I pressed in Almonds. You can get creative on this.

    Bake it at 200 degree in a preheated oven for 1 hr 10 min still the top and edges are nice cripy golden brown.

    For the sugar syrup in a sauce pan put the sugar, water and lemon drops. Let it boil for a few minutes. Take it off the heat add the Rose essence and pour on the hot baked Rava cake. Alternate to Rose Essence you can try with Cinamon powder for flavouring as well.
