Beef Vindaloo

Vindaloo is a spicy curry popular in Goa. It can be prepared with any meat such as beef, pork or mutton.

  1. 500 grams Beef
  2. For Vindaloo Masala
  3. 2 teaspoons Chilli powder
  4. 1 teaspoon kashmiri chilli powder
  5. 1/2 teaspoon Black peppercorn
  6. 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  7. 1 teaspoon Mustard seed
  8. 1/2 teaspoon Cumin seed
  9. 1/4 teaspoon Fenugreek seed
  10. 2 numbers Cardamom
  11. 2 numbers Clove
  12. 1 number Cinnamon piece
  13. Other Ingredients
  14. 1 1/2 cups Onion, chopped
  15. 1 tablespoon Ginger, crushed
  16. 1 tablespoon Garlic, crushed
  17. 2 tablespoons Vinegar
  18. 1/2 teaspoon Sugar
  19. 1/2 cup Water
  20. to taste Salt

    Cut beef into small cubes, keep aside.

    Grind together all the ingredients listed under 'Vindaloo Masala' into a fine powder, keep aside.

    Heat oil in a pan, saute onion until golden brown. Add ginger and garlic, saute.

    Add vindaloo masala and vinegar, saute well till the mixture turns dark brown. Add beef and stir for few minutes, add salt and water. Pressure cook the beef until it is done.

    Stir in sugar and cook until the gravy is thick. Serve hot with nan, chapathi, white rice etc.
