Apple barfi

  1. 3 Apples big ( peeled and grated)
  2. half Lemon juice lemon juice of
  3. 300 gms Khoya (mawa)
  4. 1 cup Milk
  5. ¾ cup Sugar (may vary according to sweetness prefered)
  6. ½ tsp Cardamom powder
  7. Pinch Saffron of
  8. 2 - 3 drops Rose essence
  9. 4 tbsps Ghee
  10. Almonds
  11. Pistachios
  12. Pinch Saffron of


  1. Add Photo

    Mix the lemon juice to the grated apple.

  2. Change

    In a heavy bottom pan or kadhai, heat ghee.

  3. Add Photo

    Add cardamom powder and grated apple, sauté on high heat for few mins. Stir well to avoid burning.

  4. Change

    Add khoya and milk, let it cook well till mixture starts leaving ghee.  Stir occasionally.

  5. Add Photo

    Add sugar, saffron and rose essence, mix well.

  6. Change

    Let it cook till the sugar dissolves completely and the mixture becomes thick and dry.

  7. Add Photo

    Pour this mixture  in a greased pan or cake tin.

  8. Add Photo

    Garnish with slivered almonds, pistas and saffron strands.

  9. Add Photo

    Refrigerate till set.

  10. Change

    Cut into squares or diamond shapes.  Serve it.
