Ingredients

  1. 2 cups Semolina
  2. 1 cup Coconut powder
  3. ½ cup All-purpose flour
  4. 1 cup Yoghurt
  5. 1 cup Caster sugar
  6. 175 gms Butter (melted)
  7. Almonds Cashewnut blanched or few.(halved)
  8. 1 ½ cups Sugar
  9. 1 cup Water
  10. 2 drops Rose essence
  11. 1 tsp Lemon juice

Cooking Instructions

    In a bowl, take semolina, coconut powder, all-purpose flour, yoghurt, melted butter, sugar and mix well

    Place this mixture evenly  on greased 14 inches tray (preferably aluminium) and keep aside for 10 minutes

    Pre-heat the oven at 180 degrees

  4. 4

    Cut the  mixture into square or diamond shapes and place the halved almond or cashews in the center of the each piece.

    Bake it for 40-45 minutes till golden brown

    To prepare syrup, boil sugar and water till dissolved well

  7. 7

    Add lemon juice and rose essence, simmer syrup for 6-7 minutes

  8. 8

    When the basbousas are baked till golden brown, pour the sugar syrup when the cake is still hot

  9. 9

    Keep it at room temperature till it soaks all the syrup and cools down completely

  10. 10

    They are ready to be served….
