Goan fish curry

  1. 500 gms Fish (sliced)
  2. 1 cup Coconut grated or chopped
  3. 100 ml Coconut milk
  4. 5 - 6 chilies Whole dried red
  5. 1 tbsp Coriander seeds
  6. ½ tsp Turmeric
  7. 1 - inch Ginger piece
  8. 6 cloves Garlic
  9. 1 tsp Cumin seeds
  10. 5 - 7 Black peppercorns
  11. ½ tsp Fenugreek seeds (methi)
  12. 2 tbsps Tamarind pulp
  13. 3 tbsps Oil
  14. Salt as per taste
  15. 1 cup water Warm

    Grind together coconut, coriander seeds, cumin, red, chiliies, turmeric, black peppercorns, methi, garlic, ginger, tamarind pulp, vinegar with little water to very smooth paste

    Heat oil in a pan, add ground masala, cook well till it starts leaving oil, stir occasionally

    Add warm water, cook till it comes to boil, add fish slices and simmer for 6-8 minutes

    Finally, add coconut milk, mix and simmer for another 5-7 minutes

    Dish out and serve hot with steamed rice…enjoy

    I have used sea bass fish (bhetki), you can also use seer, pomfret or fish of your choice
