Mixed Berry Oatmeal
A good way to amp up the nutrition factor in your daily bowl of oatmeal... add some berries and nuts for a power-packed start to your day!
Ingredients

1/4 Cup oats

1 Cup water

1/2 Cup berries mixed , dried

1/8 Cup almonds , slivered

2 Tablespoons maple syrup

1 Pinch salt
Cooking Instructions

Add the oats to 1 cup room temperature water and stir to remove any lumps.

Place the pan on medium and continue stirring till the oats thicken and are half cooked.

At this stage, add the mixed berries (i used a combination of blueberries, raspberries, red currants and blackberries and they were really sweet!) and stir well.

Toss in the almonds. stir for about 1 more minute.

Add the pinch of salt, and 1 tablespoon of maple syrup. stir well and transfer to a serving bowl.

Optional: you may add a dash of milk or cream before removing it from the heat for a richer, creamier feel.

Drizzle with the remaining tablespoon of maple syrup and serve!
