Besan sooji Cheela

3 cheelas
  1. 1 1/2 cup besan
  2. 3 tbsp lightly roasted sooji
  3. 1 tomato finely chopped
  4. 1 onion finely chopped
  5. 2 tbsp chopped coriander leaves
  6. 1-2 green chilli finely chopped
  7. 1 small carrot grated
  8. 1 finely chopped capsicum
  9. 1 small peice ginger grated
  10. 1 tsp baking powder
  11. 1/4 tsp baking soda
  12. 1/2 tsp each red chilli powder, black pepper powder
  13. tsp Chat masala1
  14. 1 tsp Garam masala powder
  15. Few drops lime juice
  16. Salt as per taste
  17. 2 tbs oil
  18. 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  19. 1/2 tsp ajwain(carom seeds)


  1. Add Photo

    First of all mix besan sooji and salt

  2. Add Photo

    With help of water make a smooth batter of flowing consistency

  3. Add Photo

    Keep aside for 15 minutes

  4. Add Photo

    Heat a non stick tawa / pan on low flame

  5. Add Photo

    In the batter add red chilli powder, black pepper powder, chaat masala, garam masala powder, cumin seeds, ajwain,grated ginger, chopped green chilli and coriander leaves

    Mix well

  7. Add Photo

    When tawa is hot sprinkle 1tsp oil and with help of a spatula spread it all over tawa

  8. Add Photo

    Finally add B.P baking soda and lemon juice in the batter, mix lightly

  9. Add Photo

    Pour a big laddle full of batter on tawa and spread it (do not make it thin like dosa)

  10. Add Photo

    After 2 minutes sprinkle oil on the sides of cheela and spread grated carrot, capsicum onion and tomato on the top after a minute press the vegies lightly when bottom side is brown flip the cheela

  11. Add Photo

    Cook for 2- 3 minutes press it with spatula if needed sprinkle 1/2 tsp oil in the sides

  12. Add Photo

    Serve with any chutney(I am serving it with anwla coriander green chutney and coconut chutney)
