Samak Rice Power Packed Pulao

Samak rice power packed Pulao is an easy and healthy fast delicacy made with samak chawal or barnyard millet and very little ghee.
Samak rice are regularly used during fasting and are very nutritious and healthy.

  1. 1/2 cup Samak ke chawal
  2. 1 teaspoon Ghee (clarified butter)
  3. 1/2 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  4. 2 tablespoons dry roasted Peanuts
  5. 1 Green chilli chopped finely
  6. 1 medium Potato peeled and cubed
  7. 1/2 teaspoon Rock salt (sendha namak) or to taste
  8. 1 tablespoon Lemon juice
  9. 1/2 cup paneer cubes
  10. 1 tablespoon coriander leaves finely chopped
  11. 8-10 curry leaves
  12. 1 1/2 cups Water


45 minutes
  1. Wash samak rice and soak for 30 minutes and after soaking discard the water.

  2. Heat ghee in a non-stick pan and shallow fry the paneer cubes and potato cubes until golden in colour and crisp and keep aside.

  3. Now in the same ghee add cumin seeds and curry leaves and let them crackle.

  4. Add roasted peanuts, chopped green chilies and fry for few seconds.

  5. Mix in the potatoes, paneer sendha namak and soaked samak rice.

  6. Mix and stir for a minute and add 1 1/2 cups of water and bring it to a boil.

  7. Once it starts boiling, cover the pan and cook on low flame for 10 minutes.

  8. After that remove the lid and fluff up or separate the samak rice using a spoon or a fork.

  9. Drizzle fresh lemon juice, garnish with chopped coriander leaves and mix.

  10. Hot Samak rice power packed pulao is ready to serve.
