Mixed vegetables bajra khichdi

Tasty and healthy khichdi , full of nutrients

  1. 1/2 cup bajra Dalia, soaked for half an hour
  2. 1/2 moong dal, soaked for half an hour
  3. 1/4 cup chopped cauliflower
  4. 1/4 cup fresh green peas
  5. 1/4 cup chopped carrot
  6. 1 chopped potato
  7. 1 chopped tomato
  8. 2 finely chopped green chillies
  9. 1 tbsp finely chopped ginger
  10. 1 tsp jeera
  11. 1/4 tsp heeng
  12. 1 tbsp +1tsp ghee
  13. to taste Salt
  14. Water as required


20-25 minutes
  1. Add Photo

    Heat a tbsp of ghee in a pressure cooker

  2. Add Photo

    Put jeera and heeng, let it splutter

  3. Add Photo

    Then add green chillies and ginger, saute for a minute

  4. Add Photo

    Now add chopped tomato, cook for 2 minutes

  5. Add Photo

    Then add all the vegetables and roast them for 5 minutes, stirring continuously

  6. Add Photo

    Then add soaked bajra and moong dal and roast for a minute

  7. Add Photo

    Now add water as required, just to cover everything

  8. Add Photo

    Add salt and mix well

  9. Add Photo

    Cover the lid and cook on high flame for one whistle

  10. Add Photo

    Then make the flame low and cook for 3-4 minutes, then switch off the gas

  11. Add Photo

    When the pressure cooker cools down completely then take out the khichdi in a serving bowl and pour a tsp of ghee on top

  12. Add Photo

    Serve hot, you can have this with papad, any chutney of your choice, kadhi or curd

    I have used here moong dal, you can use chilka moong dal also
