Steamed Herb Fish

Ingredients

  1. 4 large 1pieces Seer fish
  2. 2 spoons Oregano
  3. 1/2 spoon Black pepper
  4. 4 cloves Mashed garlic
  5. 1 tsp Fat free butter
  6. 1/2 tsp Olive oil (optional)
  7. 2 tsp Chives finely chopped (optional)
  8. 1 pinch Turmeric
  9. to taste Salt
  10. as needed Foil enough to bag the fish pieces individually

Cooking Instructions

    Wash the fish with turmeric and water. Pat dry with tissue.

    In a bowl mix all the ingredients.

    Using a brush or your hands apply the mix on both sides of the pieces.

  4. 4

    Cut foil into 4 rectangular pieces. The size should be 3 times larger than the fish.

    Place a piece of fish on a piece of foil. Now wrap it like a bag/pouch and seal the edges tightly. Do not fold it flat.

    Heat water in a steamer. Once hot place the fish bags on the stand. You can keep 2 at a time or all 4 depending on the design and size of your steamer. Keep flame on medium or high. Close lid.

    Open after 10 mts. using tongs remove the foil pouches. Place on plate and let it rest for 5 mts.

    Slowly open the foil from top so that the juices don't flow out. Best to eat from pouch itself.

I never intentionally learn't to cook. I would love to watch my grandmum cook when I was a child. The ingredients, aromas, techniques and method is kind of etched in my mind. I am happy when I cook. It takes me back to some of my best days with my most favorite person.
