Thai Mango with Sweet Sticky Rice

Another recipe I learned at a Thai cooking class and remade at home :)

  1. [Sticky Rice]:
  2. 1 big mango
  3. 1 cup sticky rice (Thai or Japanese work good)
  4. 1 cup coconut milk
  5. 1/2 cup sugar
  6. 1 tsp salt
  7. [Coconut Sauce]:
  8. 1 cup coconut milk
  9. 1 Tbsp rice powder (if available)
  10. 2 Tbsp sugar
  11. pinch salt


  1. Add Photo

    Wash & soak sticky rice in water for 3 hours.

  2. Add Photo

    Tightly wrap rice with a cloth and steam it for 30 minutes in a steamer.

  3. Add Photo

    In a small pan, add a cup of coconut mik, 1/2 cup sugar and 1 tsp salt and bring to a boil until sugar is melted.

  4. Add Photo

    Mix the boiled coconut milk into the rice.

  5. Add Photo

    To make the sauce: Add all the coconut sauce ingredients into a small pot and boil until thickened.

  6. Add Photo

    Cut the mango into smaller pieces. Serve sticky rice along with the mango on a plate. You can put the mango on top of the rice too. Pour over the sauce as desired.
