Easy Gyudon, Beef Bowl

Gyudon is simple and easy soul food for Japanese. We even have fast food stores dedicated for Gyudon in Japan.

4 servings
  1. 300 g Thin sliced beef
  2. 1 Onion
  3. 3.5 tbsp Soy source
  4. 1 tbsp Mirin
  5. 1/2 tbsp Sugar
  6. 200 ml Dashi broth
  7. 600-850 g Cooked rice
  8. Sliced pickled red ginger

Method

  1. Change

    Soy sauce, Mirin, Sugar and Dashi(powder). Prepare 200ml Dashi broth from the powder.

    Cut the onion in half(lengthwise), then slice it into 7-8mm width

  3. Change

    Heat soy sauce, mirin and sugar in a saucepan

  4. Change

    Let it boil for a second

  5. Change

    Add the beef and cook in high temperature for 2-3 minutes

  6. Change

    Stirring continuously

  7. Change

    Add the onions and dashi broth

  8. Change

    Place the lid and cook on medium heat for 7-8 minutes, stirring twice in between. You can make this lid with aluminum foil. With this lid, all the ingredients soak the soup well.

  9. Change

    Almost there.

  10. Change

    Scoop the cooked rice in a bowl and place the beef on top with the sauce.Garnish with pickled ginger (optional)
