Bean soup in the slow cooker

Ingredients

  1. 500 g dry medium haricot beans
  2. 1 1/2 l water
  3. 150 g grated tomato
  4. 2 tbsp tomato paste 
  5. 2 tbsp ketchup
  6. 1/2 tsp sugar 
  7. 1 large onion, finely chopped
  8. 2 carrots, finely chopped 
  9. 3-4 sprigs celery
  10. 1/2 cup olive oil
  11. salt
  12. pepper

Method

  1. Add Photo

    Soak the beans in a bowl of water that covers them for 12 hours (or if you like, overnight). 

  2. Add Photo

    Boil for about 15 minutes, skim off the foam and drain them. 

  3. Add Photo

    Put the beans together with the rest of the ingredients in the slow cooker and stir. 

  4. Add Photo

    Cook in the low setting for 7,5-8 hours.

    Your thickened bean soup is ready!
