  1. For Dal Puri
  2. For Outer Covering Dough
  3. 1 cup wheat flour
  4. 3 tbsp oil
  5. to taste Salt
  6. as needed Water to bind
  7. For stuffing
  8. 1/2 cup Chanadal
  9. 1 tbsp oil
  10. 1 tsp Cummin seeds
  11. 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  12. 1 tsp Red Chilli powder
  13. 1 tsp Coriander seeds powder
  14. to taste Salt
  15. 1 tbsp finely chopped fresh coriander leaves
  16. as needed Oil for deep frying
  17. as needed Water for cooking
  18. For Bihar Style Dal Fry
  19. 1 cup Chanadal..wash and soak in warm water...for one hour
  20. 1 onion chopped
  21. 1 - tamoto chopped
  22. For tadka
  23. 2 tbsp oil
  24. 1 bay leaf,1red chilli
  25. 1/2 tsp each Cummin seeds, Ajwain seeds, Snauf, Fenugreek seeds
  26. 1 lemon juice
  27. 1/4 tsp turmeric powder,1tsp Red Chilli powder,1tsp garam masala
  28. to taste Salt


  1. Add Photo

    Wash Chanadal twice with water.Soak in warm water for 1hour.

  2. Change

    Pressure cook.. Chanadal with one glass of water..for 2 -3whistles.Let cooker cool.Drain extra water from cook Chanadal.

    Crush Cooked Chanadal.. coarsely..with hand crusher... keeping few cooked Chanadal as it is.

    In heavy bottom pan..heat 1tbsp oil..add Cummin seeds..let it splutter.Add crushed Chanadal..add turmeric powder,red chilli powder, coriander seeds powder,salt,.Mix well.Cook this mixture for 3-4minutes. Off the Flame..add Chopped Coriander leaves.mix well. Keep aside this stuffing to cool.

  5. Change

    As the stuffing being cool..Make stuff but soft dough..for outer covering...by mixing wheat flour,salt and oil.Bind with water.

    PREPARATION of Dal Puris

    Make eight portion from dough..

    Take one portion of dough..make ball.. flatten and roll into 3" Round Puri. place 11/2tbsp of stuffing

    Collect the edges together... and seal.

    Again lightly pressing..make 3"Puri.with rolling pin.

    Heat oil..in frying pan.Drop slowing the flatten Stuffed ChanaDal PURI in hot oil..Deep fry on High flame for one minute. As they fluff up lower the flame..fry till golden brown.

    SIMILARLY Prepared All Dal Puris.

    Preparation of Bihar Style Dal Fry.

    In Non stick pressure cooker..add & heat 2tbsp oil.add Cummin seeds, Ajwain seeds, Fenugreek seeds and Snauf..Saute for 30secs add bay leaf and chop red chilli.

    Add chopped onion..saute till pink in colour,add ginger garlic paste, turmeric powder,garam masala, tamoto pieces lemon juice..mix well.Add soaked ChanaDal..mix well.Add 3cups of water.. pressure cook for 2 whistles on fast flame..then lower the flame.. pressure cook for 2more whistles.

  16. Change

    Let Cooker cool for 20mins before opening the cooker lid.Serve Hot as Side dish.

  17. Change

    RELISH & Serve Famous Hot ChanaDAL PURIS WITH ChanaDAL FRY.. Or with side dishes like Kheer,Methi Paneer Curry..etc.
