Easy beef stew

Ingredients

  1. 500 g beef steak
  2. 1/2 bottle red wine
  3. 2 tsp oregano
  4. 300 g chestnut mushrooms
  5. 1 beef stock pot
  6. 2 tbsp plain flour
  7. 250 ml hot water
  8. 1 tbsp olive oil
  9. 1 white onion roughly chopped

Steps

  1. Prepare the ingredients and the following equipment: one large casserole dish and a wooden spoon. Pre heat the oven to 160’C fan.

  2. Put the Olive Oil in the casserole dish and add the beef steak and onion fry until the steak is browned.

  3. Now add the flour and mix for a couple of minutes until the flour is evenly coating the meat.

  4. Add the mushrooms and stir through.

  5. Add the stock pot mixed with 250ml boiling hot water. The wine and the oregano. Allow everything to come to the boil and start to bubble. Now remove from the hob and move to the oven with a lid and cook for 1hr.

  6. Remove from the oven and give a good stir, season with Salt and Pepper if required and return to the oven uncovered for another 45mins until it’s tender and the wine has been totally cooked off.

  7. Serve with boiled carrots and mashed potato. ENJOY!
