I was so excited while seing strawberries at the market, and made it into a very tasty syrup, this can made for light or heavy syrup. If it's light syrup, just use ratio 1 : 1 : 1 for the sugar : strawberries : liquid. If heavy syrup you could use ratio 1 : 1 : 1/2.

Ingredients

  1. 500 gr fresh strawberries
  2. 1 whole orange juice
  3. 1 tbs orange zest (from 1 whole orange)
  4. 1/2 lemon juice
  5. 500 ml liquid (water, including the orange juice and lemon juice)
  6. 1/4 tsp salt

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Clean all of your fruits.

  2. 2

Cut all the strawberries stems, set aside.

  3. 3

Grated one whole orange skin to take the orange zest, and squeeze the juice too. Add 1/2 lemon juice, and fill it with water until 500 ml for the total liquid. If you are going for heavy syrup you only need 250 ml for the liquid.

  4. 4

Put your clean strawberries into a pan, add sugar, orange zest, and the liquid inside your pan.

  5. 5

Heat it with medium low heat. Let it boil and while boiling push or squeeze your strawberries inside the pan using the potato smasher, just push a little bit to take out the juice little by little, no need to crush your strawberries.

  6. 6

Add salt and let it simmer until the thickness that you wished. If you want a bit thick or half heavy, let your syrup reduces its liquid until the thickness that you want. Mine, it takes about 30-45 minutes simmering time.

  7. 7

    Enjoy! 😘😘😘

  8. 8

You could use it for the topping of your cakes, toast bread, pancakes, beverage or whatever that calls for strawberry syrup. 😘😘😘
