Crispy and Fluffy Homemade Naan Made with All-Purpose Flour

Since I often cook Indian-style curry at home, I wanted to make naan to go with it. I've tried making it several times with my husband and it's become a favorite of ours.

Ingredients

4 servings
  1. 160 grams All-purpose flour
  2. 1/8 tsp Salt
  3. 90 ml Lukewarm water
  4. 1/2 tsp Dry yeast
  5. 10 grams Honey
  6. 10 grams Olive oil

Cooking Instructions

    Add the dry yeast and honey to the lukewarm water, and leave for 10 minutes.

    Combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.

    Pour in the yeast mixture, and hand mix. When everything is blend, add the olive oil.

    Knead until the dough is smooth, and cover with plastic wrap. Allow the dough to rise in a double boiler until it becomes 1.5 times its original size.

    Gently knead, and divide into 4 portions with a knife.

    Roll the dough out thin with your hands or a rolling pin, and pan-fry both sides in a non-stick frying pan (no need for oil.)

    I added 1 tablespoon of dry parsley.

    Carrot Naan: Use 55 ml of lukewarm water and add 45 g of carrot.

    Cheese Naan: I used 2 slices of cheddar cheese.

    With mashed potatoes. Adding sautéed golden brown onion will increase the umami flavor/

    This dough is also delicious baked as a pizza. I topped with bacon, okra, egg, and broccoli.

    You can stuff them with all kinds of different fillings.
