Frikadeller (Danish Meatballs)

This staple of Danish home cooking is simple, delicious, and super easy to make.

  1. 500 g pork
  2. 1 onion
  3. 200 g flour
  4. 200 ml milk
  5. 1 egg
  6. 1 pinch salt
  7. 1 pinch oregano
  8. 1 tbsp olive oil
  9. Lettuce (for decoration)

  1. Dice half of the onion and slice and set aside the other half.

  2. Mix the diced onions and meat together.

  3. Add the flour a little at a time, then crack the egg and mix

  4. Slowly pour in the milk. The amount of flour and milk can be varied to your taste, you want to end up with the meat being pretty smooth and not too sticky.

  5. Add salt and oregano.

  6. Let the meat sit in a refrigerator for about 15 mins.

  7. Pour some olive oil on a frying pan and set the heat to medium high. Form little lumps of meat with a spoon and put them on the pan.

  8. Flip the meatballs and do the other side. Add in the sliced onions.

  9. Once the meatballs are done, take them off the pan and serve them on some lettuce together with the onions!
