Slow Cooker Tomato Sauce

This is a pretty basic sauce that's easy to make. Adding the blended basil leaves at the end adds a good fresh taste.

Ingredients

6 servings
  1. 29 oz Canned Tomato Puree
  2. 1/4 Minced White Onion
  3. 1 Minced Carrot
  4. 4 tsp Salt
  5. 1/2 tsp Dried Thyme
  6. 5 clove Crushed Garlic
  7. 1/2 tsp Dried Rosemary
  8. 1/4 tsp Dried Oregano
  9. 4 Bay Leaves
  10. 2 tbsp Granulated Sugar (optional)
  11. 1/4 cup Red Wine
  12. 1 cup Water
  13. 8 Fresh Basil Leaves

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Pour all ingredients, EXCEPT basil, into slow cooker, stir, cover, and cook on low for 10 hours.

    After cooking is complete, add one cup of sauce and basil leaves to a blender. Blend until smooth and return to rest of sauce.

    Serve over pasta, in lasagna, or any way you like.
