Japanese Pancake ‘Okonomiyaki ‘

Okonomiyaki means Japanese As-you-like-pancake. And this is my family’s Okonomiyaki.

Ingredients

  1. 1/2 cup flour
  2. 1 cup water
  3. 1/2 teaspoon Dashi powder (Japanese fish bouillon powder)
  4. 4 pieces cabbage shredded
  5. 1 egg
  6. 1/2 cup Tempura flake (Tenkasu)
  7. 1 tablespoon bonito flake
  8. 1 tablespoon dried small shrimp
  9. 1 tablespoon minced chicken or other meat
  10. Okonomiyaki sauce
  11. Mayonnaise

Steps

  1. Mix flour, Dashi powder and water

  2. Today I don’t have Tempura flakes, so I use vegetable Tempura and cut small pieces

  3. Pour flour mixture on hot pan with salad oil. And make like crepe.

  4. Put cabbage and other ingredients on it.

  6. Egg in center

  7. Pour over the rest of flour mixture

  8. Bake the other side.

  9. Surface is crispy when it baked.
