Yellow Cake
I love cake and hate frosting, so any cake I make has got to be fabulous all on its own. This one is. Simple and oh so good. Make it yours!
Ingredients

1/2 cup Shortening

1 1/2 cup Sugar

1 1/5 tsp vanilla

1 tbsp vegetable oil

2 tbsp sour cream

2 eggs
-
1/2 tsp almond flavoring

2 1/4 cup sifted cake flour

2 1/2 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp salt
Cooking Instructions

Cream shortening, sugar, oil and sour cream together til light and fluffy. add vanilla, almond flavoring and eggs. Beat well.

YES SIFT THE FLOUR and use cake flour - HUGE difference in texture. add sifted dry ingredients to batter 1/2 C or so at a time, alternately with milk until all is mixed in.

Bake in 375 oven in 2 9" round cake pans for 25-30 min. Cool 5 min., then flip onto a cake plate.

frost with your favorite chocolate frosting or flavored frosting of your choice - all go well with this cake. Or feel free to use fillings - raspberry, peach, orange fluff - options are endless.!
