Ingredients

  1. 1 cup water
  2. 2 tbsp cornstarch
  3. 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  4. 1 cup red jalapeno peppers
  5. 2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh Fresno, red Thai chilies, or red jalapeño peppers (seeds left in for a hotter sauce)
  6. 3 medium cloves of garlic, minced (about 1 tablespoon)
  7. 2/3 cup sugar
  8. 2/3 cup sugar
  9. 1/3 cup rice vinegar
  10. 2 teaspoons salt
  11. 1/3 cup rice vinegar
  12. 2 tsp salt
  13. 2 tbsp water for corn starch

Cooking Instructions

    In a small cup, whisk together 2 tbsp water and cornstarch. Set aside.

    In a saucepan, mix together a cup of water, sugar, pepper, vinegar, and salt.

    Bring to a boil over medium heat, reduce heat and simmer for 3 to 5 minutes.

    Stir in the cornstarch mixture, then whisk into saucepan and cook until thickened, about 1 minute more.

    Remove from heat, let cool, and use immediately or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
