Citrus Soda Cake

Ingredients

  1. 1 can Sprite
  2. Frosting
  3. 6 ounces unsalted butter
  4. 2 ounces shortening
  5. 1 egg
  6. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  7. Yellow/red food coloring

Cooking Instructions

    Mix the boxed cake with sprite

  2. 2

    Zest two tangerines

  3. 3

    Pour cake batter into 2 8” bundt pans sprayed with nonstick

  4. 4

    Cool cake according to box

  5. 5

    Beat room temp butter and shortening until light and fluffy (about 4 minutes)

  6. 6

    Add egg and beat until fluffy

  7. 7

    Add confectioners sugar 1/2 cup at a time, scraping side down as needed

  8. 8

    Squeeze juice from two tangerines and add

  9. 9

    Add vanilla extract and food coloring

  10. 10

    Let cake cool and frost.
