Vella Cheedai is the sweet variation of the salted uppu cheedai. But the ingredients as well as the cooking method differ slightly.
Roast urad dal and powder it. Sieve the powder. Roast rice powder also.
Chop coconut into small pieces.
Heat water in a pan. When it is hot, add jaggery to it to melt it. When the jaggery has metled, sieve it through a muslin cloth.
Add the sieved jaggery to the pan again and boil. When it is hot, add the rice powder, coconut pieces, sesame seeds and cardamom powder. Mix well and prepare the dough.
Prepare balls out of the dough and keep them aside.
Heat oil in a pan. When the oil is hot, deep fry the balls till they turn brown in color.
Allow the balls to cool and store it in a air tight container.
