Another Lebanese tasty recipe that you will love!
I remember waking up on Sunday mornings sometimes, seeing mum in the kitchen chopping a few kilograms of green swiss chard or spinach (which you can use it alternatively) to prepare fatayer. She’d spend hours making them and I never remember sitting around the table to eat them because we would be standing up in the kitchen and eating them as soon as they would come out of the oven!

Ingredients

  1. For the dough
  2. Dough: see manoushe recipe
  3. 300 g swiss chard / rainbow chard, rinsed very well and chopped (you can replace with spinach)
  4. 1 big onion, chopped
  5. 1 teaspoon sumac
  6. 1 lemon juice
  7. 2 tablespoons olive oil
  8. Pinch or to taste: ground allspice, cinnamon, black pepper, paprika

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

Prepare the dough as mentioned in this recipe https://cookpad.com/uk/recipes/9141341

  2. 2

Or use any other basic dough that you prefer

  3. 3

Preheat the oven to 180 degrees

  4. 4

Mix all the filling ingredients: the chard, sumac, pomegranate molasses, lemon juice, chopped onion, salt, olive oil, cinnamon powder, paprika, allspice, black pepper

  5. 5

(Btw you can have the filling as a salad, it’s so tasty just like that)

  6. 6

Shape the dough into small balls, roll each ball, put one tablespoon of the filling in the middle of the dough

  7. 7

You fold the longest sides into each other to have a triangle then close the bottom in to join it all together

  8. 8

Place the triangles in a baking tray (brush the bottom with oil if it’s sticky) and brush their top with vegetable oil for a golden crispy top

  9. 9

If the oven is too, they’ll take around 10 minutes. Enjoy it with swiss chard moutabbal https://cookpad.com/uk/recipes/13128930

Happy Community Team Member at @Cookpad 😊Cookpad is a space for me to introduce people to the real Lebanese home-cooking which goes far beyond hummus and tabbouleh! And the best part is that most of the ingredients I use are in you cupboard, so you can always cook my dishes and introduce one more dish to your menu 😊 👩‍🍳 If you give my recipes a try, please don't forget to show me the result through a Cooksnap. My strategy is: mix and match and keep tasting until you get the taste that you want 😁
