I would prefer to use diced up beef instead of ground beef and a turnip. More authentic and strangely the only way I will eat turnip .

Always ground beef in my memory, but diced may be interesting! Im not a fan of turnip or swede either but somehow swede in Cornish Pastie always works.

Out of curiosity, why pre-heat to 220C and then bake at 180C? Am I missing something obvious?

Hi Sanguin, I do it as habit with buttery pastry otherwise sometimes the butter melts before the pastry can get started. I guess I should try without to prove my theory :) Hope you can try these out!
