Ingredients

45 minutes
4 to 5 servings
  1. For coconut vada
  2. 1 cup chopped coconut
  3. 1/4 cup rice (soaked)
  4. 1 green chilli
  5. 1 tsp chopped ginger
  6. 1/2 tsp salt
  7. Pinch turmeric powder
  8. As needed Oil for frying
  9. For curry or masala paste
  10. 1 tsp cumin seeds
  11. 1 tsp coriander seeds
  12. 1/2 tsp ginger
  13. 2 chopped tomatoes
  14. 2 red chillies
  15. Other ingredients
  16. 2 potatoes cut into long pieces
  17. 1 tsp garam masala powder
  18. 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  19. 2 tsp oil
  20. 1/4 tsp cumin seeds
  21. to taste Salt
  22. As needed coriander leaves for garnishing

Cooking Instructions

    Take soaked rice, green chilli, chopped ginger, chopped coconut, and little water and blend it to a thick paste

    Now transfer the paste to a mixing bowl and add salt, turmeric powder and mix well, and make small vada or tikki shaped and deep fry them in oil till golden brown

    Fry potatoes till golden brown and keep aside

  4. 4

    Now take all the above mentioned ingredients for masala in a blender and blend to a smooth paste no need to add water

  5. 5

    Now heat oil in a pan add bay leaves, cumin seeds when seeds splutter add prepared masala paste, salt and turmeric powder and saute till oil separates in between add little water too

  6. 6

    Now add fried potatoes and mix it, add 3 cups of water and mix, brings it boil, covered for 5 minutes in slow flame, and add garam masala powder and brings it to boil, lastly add fried vadas and switch off the flame

  7. 7

    Covered for 5 to 7 minutes, garnish with coriander leaves and serve with hot cooked rice, paratha or roti
