Just Like Kanitama (Japanese-Style Crab Omelette) Fluffy Egg Drop Soup

I often make this egg drop soup with imitation crab sticks for my family.
I tried adding oyster sauce and vinegar to our usual soup. It tasted like kanitama, and it was delicious, so I uploaded the recipe.

You can substitute the Chinese soup stock granules with chicken stock granules.
You can add harusame glass noodles to the soup too. Recipe by Komomomomo

Ingredients

3 servings
  1. 2 Eggs
  2. 800 ml Water
  3. 2 tsp Chinese soup stock
  4. 5 Imitation crab sticks
  5. 1 tsp Soy sauce
  6. 1 and 1/2 teaspoons Oyster sauce
  7. 1 dash Pepper
  8. 2 tsp Katakuriko
  9. 1 tsp Sesame oil
  10. 2 tsp Vinegar
  11. 1 Green onions

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

Add the water and Chinese soup stock granules into a pot, and bring to a boil. Tear up the imitation crab sticks, and place in the pot.

  2. 2

Add the soy sauce, oyster sauce, and pepper. Check the taste. Please add a little bit more soy sauce or salt if you would like a stronger taste.

  3. 3

Bring to a boil again, and swirl in the katakuriko dissolved in the same amount of water to thicken the soup.

  4. 4

Beat 2 eggs, and swirl into the boiling soup.

  5. 5

When the eggs become fluffy, turn off the heat. Drizzle with the sesame oil and vinegar, and lightly stir, then done. Sprinkle with green onions, and enjoy.
