Love the burgers at Shake Shack, and if I skip the bun still high protein and #lowcarb enough for my diet. This was a first try at home and turned out great!

Ingredients

15 minutes
1 person
  1. Burger Patties
  2. 160 g ground beef
  3. 2 pinches salt
  4. 2 pinches ground pepper
  5. 1 tsp light mayo
  6. 1 tsp smooth dijon mustard
  7. 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  8. 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
  9. Toppings
  10. 2 slices cheddar cheese
  11. 1 tbsp sweet cherry peppers
  12. 2 rashers bacon
  13. 2 large lettuce leaves (use a bun if you prefer)

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

First get the bacon cooking in a pan until nice and crispy then put to one side.

  2. 2

Next prep the sauce and toppings by mixing the mayo, dijon, cayenne pepper and paprika well in a bowl. Chop the cherry peppers and set aside.

  3. 3

Now to the burgers! First get your pan nice and hot, then roll the beef gently into two balls and place on the hot pan. Using a large spatula squash the patties until nice and thin, then season with salt and pepper.

  4. 4

After about 2-3 minutes when the patties are browned on the underside, flip them over with the spatula, add the cheese and cook for another 2-3 minutes. We want them nice and crispy on the edges for that authentic “smashed” taste

  5. 5

Now to build and serve! I’m avoiding carbs and using a lettuce wrap in place of a bun, so use a bun here if you prefer. Stack the 2 burger patties, smother on some sauce, the peppers and bacon then serve!
