Description

A quick prep full of flavor with an aroma!

材料

dry red lentils (rinsed and drained well)
1 cup
yellow or sweet onion (finely chopped)
1 large
fresh ginger (minced)
1 tablespoon
garlic (minced)
1 tablespoon
 
canola oil
2 tablespoons
 
ground cardamon
2 teaspoons
ground coriander
2 teaspoons
ground cumin
1 teaspoon
ground turmeric
1/2 teaspoon
 
canned crushed tomatoes
1 cup
light/regular coconut milk
1 can (13.5 oz)
2 cups
better than bouillon vegetable base
2 teaspoons
kosher salt
1 teaspoon
 
garam masala
1 teaspoon
cane sugar
1 teaspoon
 
fresh cilantro (chopped)
for garnish

作り方

    Gather all the ingredients.

    Oil in a Dutch oven (2 us qt) over medium heat.

    Add onion and cook until lightly golden.

    Add ginger and garlic and cook until fragrant.

    Add cardamon, coriander, cumin and turmeric.

    Keep stirring and cook until you smell an aroma.

    Add tomatoes. Sauté until tomatoes are pasty (4-5 mins)

    Add lentils/coconut milk/water/bouillon/salt. Then mix well.

    Bring it to a simmer and cover, then lower the heat.

    Stir at times and cook until lentils get tender (15-20 mins)

    Stir in garam masara and sugar.

    Taste, adjust with salt as needed. Serve.

コツ・ポイント

Sauté the onions until lightly golden to make the base of the curry. Cook the tomatoes to evaporate the water content.
