Nikujaga
Want to make some Japanese?Try this common home-cooked dish!

材料 (4 people)

meat(sliced beef or pork)
200g(7oz)
onion
250g(8.8oz)
potato
420g(14.8oz)
carrot
150g(5.3oz)
shirataki noodles
1 pack or 200g(7oz)
300ml(10.15fl oz)
sake
50ml(1.7fl oz)
sugar(beat sugar)
2tbs
soy sause
4tbs
mirin(sweet sake)
2tbs
green beans
4〜5 pieces
vegetable oil
2tbs

cut the veges into large chunks and pieces.

boil water in a sause pan and blanch shirataki noodles

about 1to 2mins.
cut them into little pieces.

heat a heavy bottomed pot over middium-high until hot.

add the oil, then stir-fry the meat, veges and shirataki

until the oil has spread well.

add dashi and sake. when it's boiled, skim the broth.

simmer until carrots and potatoes are very soft.

add sugar and simmer about 5mins.

then, add soy sauce and mirin(if you don't have mirin,

use 2tbs of sake and 2tsp of sugar in place of it)

simmer with a small lid resting directly on it.

if you don't have a drop lid, you can substitute with

aluminum foil cut into the size of inner pan.

do not stir it too much but watch out to make sure it

doesn't get burnt.

about 20 mins later or the broth has boiled down to 1/3,

add green beans and cook uncoverd until they are cooked.

it's ready to eat now! enjoy your dish.

do not stir a lot when it's simming. potatoes broke into a pieces and it doesn't look beautifl.
